To inculcate a sense of adventure and interest in physically challenging activities, a monsoon trek was organised for the Tarun Sadan inmates on 2nd August 2026 to Karnala Bird Sanctury and Karnala Fort.

Eleven boys participated in the trek: Krushna Bonate, Aniket Murdunge, Balu Waghmare, Rahul Gavandi, Lucky Thakur, Prem Hon, Kishor Wankhade, Ganesh Hadsa, Mohit Pawar, Pavan Gavale and Sagar Salve; along with: Nayan Mhatre (Asst. Superintend, Tarun Sadan), Deepak Kamat (Vinimay Volunteer) and RM Suresh babu (Vinimay Volunteer)

The trekkers took the train from Koper Khairne station at 530 am, reached Panvel and took a bus to Karnala Bird Sanctury. After breakfast at the base, the climbing started at around 8 am. It was raining intermittently throughout the climb, through the forest and small streams. By 1030 am, we reached the top and relaxed there for about one hour, enjoying the beautiful valley and the strong wind that sprayed rain drops. Climbdown started at around 1130 am. It was continuously raining throughout the descend, the slippery slope with water and mud was particularly challenging. After reaching the base, had lunch and took a bus to Panel, from there returned by train to Kopar Khairne and Tarun Sadan. All the boys enjoyed the trek although it was moderately challenging, given that it was the first trek for most boys. They expressed eagerness to participate in many more such treks and other activities.
